The haunted mansion from "The Whispering House" – where whispers never die.

In the remote hills of Assam, where mist clings to the trees and silence feels heavy, there stood a mansion that no one dared to name aloud. Locals called it “The Whispering House.”

It was said to be cursed. By day, it looked abandoned—just broken walls and overgrown vines. But at night, strange orange light flickered from its shattered windows. Whispers floated through the air—names, laughter, cries.

No one who entered ever returned. Until one monsoon night, four friends made a choice that would change everything.

Chapter 1: The Challenge

Rain poured relentlessly as Akash Boro, Priya Swargiary, Ranu Boro, and Brett Boro sat around a fire near the edge of their village. The bamboo groves rustled violently in the wind.

Akash leaned forward, eyes gleaming. “We’ve heard stories all our lives. But has anyone actually gone inside that house?”

Priya hesitated. “My grandmother said it’s cursed. People who enter… vanish.”

Brett chuckled. “Ghosts aren’t real. It’s just an old building.”

Ranu, usually quiet, spoke up. “Then let’s prove it. One night. We go in, stay till dawn, and come out heroes.”

Priya protested, but the others were already packing torches, candles, and snacks. By midnight, they were walking toward the mansion.

Chapter 2: The Arrival

The path was narrow, covered in wet leaves and mist. Trees leaned unnaturally, their branches like claws. Suddenly, the mansion emerged from the fog—tall, decayed, and terrifying.

Its windows glowed faintly. The gate creaked open without touch.

Inside, the air was cold. Furniture lay broken. Spider webs hung like curtains. The walls were stained, and the silence was suffocating.

“Akaaash… Priyaa…”

Priya clutched Akash’s arm. “Did you hear that?”

“Probably the wind,” Brett muttered, though his face had gone pale.

But they all knew—it wasn’t the wind.

Chapter 3: The First Signs

They lit candles, but the flames flickered violently, as if someone invisible was breathing on them. Shadows stretched across the walls, moving unnaturally.

Suddenly, a mirror cracked on its own. Priya screamed.

“We should leave,” Ranu whispered.

They ran to the door—but it was sealed. The wood felt like stone.

“We’re trapped,” Akash said quietly.

Brett forced a smile. “Relax. Let’s explore. Maybe there’s another exit.”

They moved deeper into the mansion, unaware that something was watching.

Chapter 4: The Diary

In a dusty room, they found a wooden chest. Inside lay an old diary, its leather cover burned and brittle. Akash opened it carefully.

The pages told a chilling story. The house once belonged to Biren Choudhury, a cruel landlord who tortured villagers, enslaved families, and killed those who rebelled.

One night, the villagers rose against him. They set the house on fire while Biren, his wife, and children were inside. They burned alive—screaming, cursing, swearing vengeance.

The final page was written in blood-like ink:

“Our souls are bound to these walls. Whoever enters will join us forever.”

The room grew colder. The candle went out. And in the silence, a child’s laughter echoed.

Chapter 5: The First Encounter

“Who’s there?!” Akash shouted, swinging his torchlight.

The beam caught something—a shadow. Tall, thin, with glowing hollow eyes.

It vanished instantly, but they had all seen it.

Priya began crying. “We need to leave! Please!”

Chairs scraped across the floor on their own. Windows slammed shut. The diary burst into flames, leaving only ashes.

“STAY WITH USSSSS…”

Chapter 6: The Vanishing

They split up to search for exits. Ranu and Priya stayed together while Akash and Brett explored the upper floor.

Then came a scream—Priya’s.

When they rushed back, she was gone. Only her slipper lay on the floor.

“Priya!” Ranu cried. “Where are you?!”

“She’s mine now…”

Chapter 7: The Possession

Ranu collapsed, sobbing. Akash pulled her up. “We’ll find her. We have to.”

But the house had changed. Hallways stretched longer. Doors led back to the same rooms. Windows showed nothing but darkness.

Suddenly, Priya appeared at the end of the corridor. But something was wrong. Her face was pale, her eyes black.

“Come with me,” she whispered, smiling unnaturally. “It’s beautiful here.”

She stepped forward—but her feet didn’t touch the ground.

“Run!” Brett shouted.

Chapter 8: The Confrontation

They stumbled into the main hall. The ceiling groaned. Portraits on the walls bled from their eyes.

“This is all fake!” Brett yelled. “Ghosts aren’t real!”

At that moment, invisible hands grabbed him. He screamed as his body was dragged into the shadows. His nails scraped the wooden floor, leaving bloody marks.

“Brett!!!” Akash shouted helplessly.

Only Akash and Ranu remained. The house whispered louder—hundreds of voices overlapping. Men, women, children. All calling their names.

The shadow figure returned, towering over them. Its hollow eyes glowed. Its voice thundered:

“NOW YOU BELONG TO US.”

Chapter 9: The Final Choice

Akash held Ranu’s hand tightly. “We’re not giving up.”

They ran toward the staircase, dodging flying debris and slamming doors. A window shattered, revealing the forest outside—but it was covered in fog.

Suddenly, Priya appeared again. “Stay. It’s peaceful here.”

Akash stepped forward. “You’re not Priya.”

The figure hissed, and the walls began to bleed. Ranu screamed.

Akash grabbed a candle and threw it at the shadow. It burst into flames—but the house roared in pain.

The walls cracked. The floor trembled. The whispers turned into screams.

Akash and Ranu ran toward the broken window and jumped.

Epilogue: The Whispering Never Ends

The villagers say they never saw Akash, Priya, Ranu, or Brett again.

But every night, the mansion glows faintly. Whispers echo through the forest. Not just the old voices—but four new ones.

Four young souls, trapped forever.

The Whispering House had claimed them.

And it still waits.
